- Australian Catholic
University, already well-known for its innovative Aboriginal
Education program which offers opportunities for tertiary study to
mature-aged Aboriginal people in NSW, Qld., and the ACT.
- The
Federation of Independent Aboriginal Education Provider
- The Federation of
Independent Aboriginal Education Providers (FIAEP) was formed in
February 1996, to facilitate cooperation and collaboration among
independent community-controlled providers of adult education to
Aboriginal communities. Its five foundation members are:

Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education at the
University of Canberra
- An Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander Centre was established at the University of Canberra
in 1985 when only five students were enrolled on campus. In October
1991, the Ngunnawal Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Education was established in new, much improved facilities. Progress
continues to be made in developing the Centre's academic and social
support services.

Association (ASA) is for everyone involved or interested in
Aboriginal Studies. Aboriginal Studies means both Aboriginal Studies
as a subject in its own right and Aboriginal perspectives in all
curriculum areas at all levels of education.

- Faculty
of Aboriginal and Islander Studies at the University of South
Australia
- The Faculty of Aboriginal
and Islander Studies (established in 1992) was the first faculty in
Australia to focus on Australian indigenous education and Aboriginal
studies. It offers its courses both on campus and through distance
education. The Faculty consists of a teaching school, a research
unit and a student support unit.

- The University of Adelaide,
through Wilto Yerlo (local Kaurna words for Sea Eagle), offers
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, support to all
courses offered at the Roseworthy and the North Terrace campuses.

Employment Unit at Deakin University
- The Strategy is part of the
Commonwealth and State governments broad-based initiative at
promoting the employment of Indigenous people within the public
service. It is based on one of the recommendations of the
Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.

- MALU is based on the
Bankstown Campus of the University of Western Sydney and provides a
support structure for all Aboriginal students enrolled in various
modes of study.

- The Wollotuka Centre exists
for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander generations of the

- The College of Indigenous
Australian Peoples is responsible for Indigenous academic

Victorian Aboriginal Education Association inc
- (VAEAI) aims to promote
access and equity for Koories through the development of education
programs that are culturally relevant, reinforcing Koorie identity
and providing supportive learning environments. it also aims to
provide to the wider community an awareness of Koorie cultures and
educational aspirations.

Rural Education at the University of Melbourne
- The concept is to increase
the number of Indigenous students which leads to the small
Indigenous businesses or enterprises operating under CDEP as being

- The Centre for Koorie
Studies provides Preparatory and Diploma courses for Aboriginal and
Distance Education courses for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
- Koori
Research Centre
- In 1964, Monash University
established the Koorie Research Centre to conduct research into the
traditional and contemporary life of Aborigines. Over the years the
name of the centre had been changed from the Centre for Research
into Aboriginal Affairs to the Aboriginal Research Centre, and then
the Koorie Research Centre (KRC).

World Wide Web Home Page of the Australian Rock Art Research
Association
- This WWW facility is
specifically intended as a vehicle to disseminate information on
rock art research throughout the world. The site is administered by
Cliff Ogleby and provided by the Department of Geomatics at the
University of Melbourne as a service to the international rock art
research community.

Support Unit (ATSU) at La Trobe University, Bendigo was established
in 1984-85 to provide academic and personal support to Aboriginal

undergraduate or postgraduate course at La Trobe University,
Bendigo.

- The course has the

- Aboriginal
Program at Curtin University of Technology
- The Centre's Aboriginal
research program was established in late-1992. The aims of the
program are to identify factors which can prevent alcohol and other
drug related harm among Aboriginal populations, develop culturally
appropriate means for measuring the extent and consequences of drug
abuse among Aboriginal people, and to disseminate information and
provide advice on Aboriginal alcohol and other drug issues.

- The Centre, located at
Hobart and Launceston, provides an Aboriginal enabling program,
Murina, as well as academic, cultural and social support for all
Aboriginal degree students. The services that Riawunna provides
ensure that Aboriginal people have equal opportunity to succeed at
the University; with particular emphasis on support for
